A few words from customers who have bought and worn our pieces.

S. (Saitama) — Long cardigan / kimono abaya

I received the item and I’m very happy with it, as always. It was worth buying. Matching the hijab and the long cardigan makes the whole look more striking — the bright patterns make it even more so. I can feel the care the staff put into it. Please keep making good pieces.
I really love the abaya I bought this time. I’d hoped to have one made from my mother’s kimono, but my sister had already taken it, so I remembered WATASI JAPAN and ordered from you. I’m petite, so I had to have the length taken in — the tailor said “this is lovely” and seemed genuinely moved.
Both pieces have beautiful Japanese patterns. The long cardigan can be worn without altering the length, which was a relief. I’m happy with everything I’ve bought. Please keep making pieces with beautiful patterns — I’ll be back. Thank you for making the cardigan with such care.
Lisa — Kimono abaya (Saudi Arabia)

I felt beautiful and got so many compliments while wearing my Watasi kimono abaya in Saudi Arabia! Thank you.
S. (Kyoto) — On the pieces in general
It’s clear that every piece is made with real care. Imported fabric can sometimes feel poor in quality or come with loose threads, and as a Japanese customer that’s the kind of thing I notice. Your products have none of that, and I’d love to keep using them.
M. (Hyogo) — Inner hijab
I normally only wear a hijab when praying, so I’d been wishing for something easy to put on — this was exactly right, and I was thrilled. I’m thinking of buying one as a gift when I visit my husband’s family at the end of the year. It’s easy enough for the children to manage too, and being made in Japan is something I can show off. I’d love to see more colours.
Asri (Fukushima, originally from Indonesia) — Inner hijab / instant hijab

The inner and instant hijab from WATASI JAPAN are very easy to wear. The fabric of the inner is very good and keeps it cool. The stitches of the instant hijab are very neat and strong. The original thread from Japan used for the inner and hijab is one of its charms.
Ira (Fukushima, originally from Indonesia) — Kimono hijab

The kimono hijab from WATASI JAPAN carries traditional Japanese patterns, and I enjoy the distinctly Japanese feel while wearing it. I think it’s really well suited as a souvenir from Japan for Indonesia.
From a corporate customer — gifts for departing technical interns
Our company also has a production base in Indonesia, and every year we welcome staff from there as technical intern trainees. For the past several years, we have presented each intern with a hijab as a keepsake before they return home. Talking with the interns, we learned how strongly many of them wanted to bring back a gift for the wife who had kept their household together for the year apart. They would look at WATASI JAPAN’s designs on our website together, then call home (a free video call) to talk over what she and they liked best. We believe that combining Japanese kimono with the hijab of another culture does a great deal to build mutual understanding between cultures, and we felt proud that these kimono hijabs are made right here at home, in Shirakawa.

The hijab is wonderful, the fabric is soft, and it looks beautiful when my wife wears it. Thank you. (From the intern who received it)

My family had a wonderful time. Thank you very much. (From another intern’s family)
