For companies & organisations

For companies and organisations

WATASI JAPAN produces commemorative items, promotional gifts and corporate presents for companies and organisations.

Typical uses

  • Gifts for overseas clients and guests — made in Japan, one of a kind, with figurative motifs removed so they can be given with confidence to Muslim recipients (see A guide to gifts for Muslim friends).
  • Anniversary and award pieces — shawls and other items prepared to suit your quantity and budget.
  • Promotional and PR items — for exhibitions and events.
  • OEM and custom orders — bespoke fabric and specifications.

Why work with WATASI JAPAN

  • Genuine vintage kimono silk (kurotomesode and other patterns such as komon), tailored piece by piece by women artisans in Fukushima.
  • Motifs of people and animals are removed; patterns are chosen so a piece can be given regardless of religion or nationality.
  • Introduced to 150 countries on NHK WORLD, and covered by the Nikkei, JETRO and others — you give the brand story along with the gift.
  • A track record in overseas expansion supported by JETRO’s trial-export programme, the New Export Nation Consortium and the Japan Finance Corporation’s hands-on support.

Case study: homecoming gifts for foreign technical interns (DMC Co., Ltd.)

DMC, which also has a production base in Indonesia and welcomes technical interns every year, presents WATASI JAPAN hijab to its interns as a homecoming gift before they return home. Many interns say they want to give it to the wife who kept the household for the year they were away; before leaving, they look at the website together and choose the design on a video call with their wife back home.

From the person in charge: “There is a wide range of designs and plenty of choice.” “The material is good, too — we were told it is something they would want their wife to wear on a special occasion.” “Combining a Japanese kimono with a hijab from another country is very effective for mutual cultural understanding. We are also proud that it is made here in Shirakawa.”

From an intern: “The hijab is wonderful; the material is soft, and my wife looks beautiful when she wears it.”
